On Saturday 2 September QPR will host #GAME4GRENFELL, the benefit match to support the West London community
On Saturday 2 September Queens Park Rangers and their Loftus Road stadium will host the special #GAME4GRENFELL benefit match, organised to support the West London community tragically affected by the Grenfell Tower fire on 14 June.
QPR, as the most representative club of the local community, in collaboration with Columbia Records and Toast Entertainment Group, has organised this exceptional event which aims to use the power of football to unite and help this important area of London. The two teams, captained respectively by Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer, will feature lots of former stars of English football and celebrities from the world of music and show business. Former professional footballers taking part include names of the calibre of David Seaman, Andy Sinton and Jamie Redknapp, while from the world of music there will be artists such as Ben Shephard, Richard Ashcroft and James Bay.
The event aims to raise funds to support the families of the victims and all those that have been affected by this terrible disaster which has struck London and its inhabitants. It’s an initiative and a match not relating to QPR, but which seeks to be an expression of support and cooperation, an opportunity for fostering hope and solidarity. More than 2000 supplementary tickets have been issued and distributed free to those involved in the tragedy: family members of the victims, residents, rescuers and volunteers who are giving their support in rebuilding the community.
